About Us

Protection Approaches (PA) is a UK-based charity that works to change how the world views identity-based violence – and by doing so, change the way we respond to and prevent it. PA runs Active Bystander and Community Builder trainings for local community organisations, local governments, and private companies, and has recently been commissioned by the London Mayors Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) to deliver a hate crime community outreach and resilience project. The project sees PA’s expert team work with staff and/or volunteers at ten community-based organisations who have emerging hate crime needs and who may not have historically been the focus of anti-hate crime work.

PA also works to strengthen UK contributions to atrocity prevention through its foreign policy. PA has successfully led efforts to secure atrocity prevention as a priority within the FCDO, supported by its Mass Atrocity Prevention Hub. PA has a decade’s worth of experience providing technical advice to the FCDO’s country and crisis teams, and training embassies.
